A Sleeping Baby
When trouble crowds in
Watch a baby sleep
Touch a baby arm
Kiss a baby hand
When stress climbs high
Whiff a little baby smell
Rock a baby, nuzzle
Watch a baby sleep

ah yes, I remember how good babies smelled… like a distant fine thing
but I must admit, I never missed diapers
No, saying goodbye to diapers is a super-great thing. Thanks for stopping over on the patio for a poem.
You take me back to the sweetest moments of motherhood! Beautiful words, beautiful picture, beautiful thoughts.
Thank you Robin for the beautiful comment.
Good memories. This even has a cadence that reminds me of rocking my girls to sleep.
Thanks, Sue. That’s a sweet thought.
This is lovely. Even my grandchildren are beyond this newborn stage now. Sweet memories!
Thank you, Sue.
So peaceful and soothing.
It is nice of you to say so, Joanie.
This is lovely. I am a follower now. I am so glad that we found each other. Thank you so much for following my blog, judysp.wordpress.com Happy Blogging cheers Judy
Judy, I found your blog via Dor’s Virginia Views. I look forward to getting to know you. Thanks for following my poetry here on the patio. There’s a chair here for you anytime you care to drop by. Thank you for the kind note. Lori
It will be very nice getting to know each other. I look forward to it. I will put the kettle on and we can have a virtual cuppa together
Sounds nice. I am drinking my chamomile tea now before bed here in Wisconsin.
Though I doubt we’ll be having any more grandchildren, my niece is expecting, and we’ll get to see the baby all the time. I will think of your lovely poem when I nuzzle my grandniece or grandnephew.
Thank you Coming East, and welcome to the patio. I just read your inspiring letter to your son-in-law, and look forward to checking out more of your posts.
My daughters aren’t married yet, but I’m beginning to look forward to
grandmother-ing. I haven’t held a baby in a long time.
It seem so long ago my girls were baby’s. Nice to volunteer in the nursery at church once in awhile and get a nice baby nuzzle!
Good to hear from you, Donna. Thanks for stopping over on the patio. Always good to have you here!
Awww….so cute and nice prose, too. And thanks for the RT!
Thanks, Holly. It’s always nice to see your friendly face over on Twitter.
Now that my twin girls are no longer babies i can agree lol, but when they were i had no clue what i was doing so i couldnt enjoy all the smells and such
I appreciate the honesty and reality of your statement. That’s often true of young, busy mothers. But when we are grandmothers (or aunts, neighbors, friends) we’ll know enough to take the time to enjoy the delights of an infant.
I have a granddaughter I have never seen but will see her at Christmas. 15 months old then. Another granddaughter will be 10 Christmas day.
Fifteen months. What a long time to wait. That will be a special Christmas gift!
Exquisite photograph. Exquisite poem. What a delight to read this post. Virginia
Thank you, Virginia. I’m honored to hear from you. I just read your ‘about’ post and I absolutely loved it. It’s the best, most interesting ‘about’ post ever. My favorite part was when you said one can never have too many books. I loved the photos of your book shelves, and I look forward to many more interactions with you!
Welcome to my world Lori. It is heart-warming to hear from you. V.
Lori this is such a tender picture and a beautiful poem. Thank you for following my blog.
This is a favorite of mine. So glad you like it. Thank you, Valentina.
