A View

From our Hotel Window on the 14th Floor

To the left, the water view
where boats rock quietly under
the sound of seagulls.

To the right, the mountains
peek through gaps
between high-rises.

Across the wide city street
one Vancouver resident
keeps his penthouse

blinds open, so we may
observe him walk under high ceilings,
among his elegant furnishings.

  1. “under the sound of seagulls”… wow, Lori, you captured the way their ballyhoo can create a canopy! I feel as though I’m there with you. Interesting about the penthouse dude, too. 🙂

  2. Love this poem and the mountains peeking thru high-rises. I can’t imagine! Then the total shift to the 1 penthouse. Amazing!
