the milk is gone and we need some for breakfast

the wastebaskets are full

a light bulb in the kitchen has burnt out

the toilet is running

the furnace filter needs to be replaced

a spider is in the tub

a branch has fallen down in the backyard

the car won’t start—

no matter what it is

Dad will take care of it—

you can always count on him

  1. You know the song: “A Good Man is Hard to Find”—well, Happy Birthday and many blessings to Neil, one of those rare finds!!! And Lori, well done on a terrific poem! 😀

  2. That is one capable-looking man. What a wonderful tribute. This would be a dandy Father’s Day poem too! Dads like this not only surround our lives with love, they add that sense of security that is so vital to families (and provide such precious memories.).

    • Thank you, Rebecca! Tonight after work I’m driving the hour to see my folks, staying overnight, and we’re having a game day tomorrow. 🙂

  3. Beautiful tribute to your dad, Lori! You bring back memories of my own dad.

  4. Dad really felt proud reading this to Coleen and Marilyn,he says “Thank You”. I could almost see me saying those remarks,ha.Love,Mom.

  5. I love this poem. A dad really does do a lot of odd jobs around the house.
